Fluency Flower is a math game played by children. We designed it to need as little information as possible: you can play the whole game without giving us a name, an email address, or anything else about yourself. This page explains exactly what we do keep, why, and how a parent can see it or have it deleted.
By default there is no account and no sign-up. When you start playing we store a random code in your browser and keep your game — your flower, your garden, your stars and your progress — against that code on our server. We do not ask for your name, your age, your email or your location, and we cannot tell who you are from it.
That random code is a persistent identifier, and we use it for one purpose only: so the game you were playing is the game you come back to. We do not use it to advertise to you, to build a profile, or to recognize you anywhere other than in this game.
A player can choose to save their game to an email address so it can be found again on another device. This is optional — the game is complete without it.
We do not ask children for their own email address. When a player tells us they are a child, we ask for a grown-up's email instead, and we send that grown-up a message explaining who is asking and what is kept. Nothing is saved to the address until they click the confirmation link in it. If they ignore the message, nothing happens.
When a game is saved to an email address, we keep:
Some players arrive through Recess. In that case Recess tells us an identifier for the player and their first name, which we use to show their name in the game and to find their flower again when they return. We receive nothing else from Recess.
We keep what the game is made of: which operations have been practised, how many questions were answered correctly and how quickly, daily streaks, and the state of the flower and garden. This is what makes the game work — it is how a flower grows overnight and how yesterday's practice is still there today. It is never sold, never shared with advertisers, and never used to contact a player.
We use a small number of providers to run the game, and they may process information on our behalf:
None of these providers is permitted to use what they process for their own purposes.
The game loads no advertising networks, no analytics services and no social media widgets. Its typefaces are served from our own servers rather than a font service, so loading a page does not announce your child to anyone we have not listed here.
The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act gives parents control over what is collected from their children online. We follow it, and the rights below are yours whether or not you have given us an email address.
To exercise any of these, email admin@br80.io from the address the game is saved to, or reply to the confirmation email you received. We will need enough detail to find the right game — the email address it is saved to is usually enough.
We keep a game only as long as it is being played or as long as the account it is saved to exists. Games that have not been opened for 12 months are deleted, along with everything stored against them. When you ask us to delete a game, we delete it.
If we change what we collect or what we do with it, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change would involve collecting something new from a child, we will ask a parent first.
